The Ministry of Poetry – Eyethu Mfazwe
Eyethu Mfazwe is from Cofimvaba, in the Transkei and grew up in East London.
She is an aspiring spoken word artist and writer. She is the author of her debut poetry book, Ndinethemba: My Hope, My Strength, My Progress. Her work has been featured in numerous online magazines and literary journals, to name a few such as Better Than Starbucks and Christian online literary journal, Labyrinthine Passages. Her love for writing begun when she was 11 years old, when she tried out various hobbies in the arts. She started reciting poetry in grade 8 at the Public Speaking Eisteddfod, in the category, Original Verse and has been reciting ever since. In 2018, she was shortlisted for the Youth Day Creative Symposium #ReImaginingDemocracy for her work, Silenced youth wanting to be unsilenced, as part of CIVICUS: World Participation Alliance for Citizen Participation and their partners. She is featured by up coming producer, Meerster RGM on their song, “Emancipate.”
Eyethu recently graduated with a degree in Psychology and Communication Science from the University of the Free State. She believes she is called to minister through poetry and often shares her work on stages and on social media platforms.
