Wahnfried

The Venue:

Wahnfried is a home in McGregor purchased by Michael and Freddie with the intention of it being used for the benefit of the Village, now and in the future. Our vision is that the house will act as a venue for cultural events – live music, recorded music, films and other ‘sympathetic’ activities which take place in our Village. The Moroccan inspired house with its double volume ‘salon’ and excellent acoustics is furnished with an 1873 Bechstein grand piano, comfortable chairs and a quality film projector system which shows films in high definition and the latest surround sound. Musical events are held most Sundays and films are shown weekly throughout the year.

La Galleria

The Venue:

La Galleria opened in March 2017 as Dani’s Photos Studio and Gallery, but with the idea to share the space with other artists for solo exhibitions. The gallery was built in 2016 on the corner of Bree and Mill Street in McGregor. The feel is very natural: The art is displayed without invading the lime plastered walls and the old Oregon pine windows and doors bring natural light into the space. The peaceful space outside under the coral tree is the perfect spot to sit and discuss art and life.

Opening hours: Sat–Sun 11:00-15:00 weekdays when barn doors are open or on appointment with pleasure: Contact details

Stillness Sanctuary

The Venue:

This unique small Yoga, Ayurvedic and Meditation centre is a peaceful place of sanctuary and healing.  It borders the Nature Reserve (simply open the gate and walk into the veld and up to the dam) and is  surrounded by spectacular views of layers of blue mountains.

The elegant light blue studio echoes the movement of light of the spacious blue Karoo skies.

A simple spiral labyrinth made from the Eucalyptus trees with the stone sculptures witness each step to the centre …and there is a teeny tiny meditation sitplekkie (in days gone by, the longdrop)  from one sitplekkie to another…..

A charming garden cottage nestles alongside.

The perfect place to enjoy a selection of therapies, treatments or private custom made retreats.

The Venue:

The Green Room is green – a colour to symbolise fresh and new life!
It’s a dedicated household space for meetings, workshop, conversations and meditations that bring life.
It is a room about 5.5 X 6.5 in size, attached to the living space of the main house, but with its own private entrance through beautiful barn doors. There are washroom facilities and a place for refreshments. The space is perfect to accommodate an intimate group seated around a round table, or up to 15 seated in horse-shoe, or the space can be kept empty and participants can sit on the floor. There is a gas heater, plugs, dimmable lights to create the appropriate atmosphere for the theme of the workshop.
