This year we decided to run a Haiku competition. The Haiku had to be written on the second day of the weekend, Saturday 26th August, and dropped into a box in the Temenos garden. Approximately 100 entries were received, and Hugh Hodge was given the task of identifying a winning entry, which would receive a cash prize of R1000.

This was the winner, written by Graham Dukas.

One humanity

The heart remains connected

As we drift alone

Congratulations, Graham! When he was informed, Graham immediately donated his prize back to the event! A big thank you from us! Your generosity will see us able to assist another deserving cause in McGregor.

Hugh also identified two other Haiku which he commended highly.

They were:

Jy het my gebreek

En ek weet nie of ek ooit

Weer heel sal wees nie

Written by Francois

And

We walked out across

The Baviaans, I came back

With an open soul

Thanks to everyone who participated in this great new event. We look forward to more  entries next year!
