Longing for Home – Heimwee

We are delighted to confirm the dates of our 2024 festival and its theme, ‘Longing for Home’, and the Afrikaans ‘Heimwee’.
After celebrating our eleventh Poetry in McGregor Festival in 2023, we gave much thought to ‘rethinking a way forward’. We solicited ideas and suggestions, all of which led us, in the words of John Lennon, to ‘Let it Be’.
So, in letting it be, the 2024 festival will celebrate and honour poetry in the same steady and deeply creative manner which our earlier festivals established.
Poets will again gather at Temenos Retreat, to respond to their muses and share their works. We will be reminded of poetry’s important role in our lives, and how deeply curative it can be, especially during our current, global, troubled times.
Please diarise the weekend of 6-7-8 September 2024 and join us for what will again be a marvellous event.
Poets wishing to present at the festival can download the submission form on our website www.poetryinmcgregor.co.za or contact the Festival Coordinator at info@poetryinmcgregor.co.za. Submissions close 31st May 2024.
A call for entries to our Poetry In McGregor Competitions will be sent out on 30 May 2024. No competition submissions will be accepted before 1 June 2024.
