Due to economic and current global uncertainties our committee have taken the decision to postpone this year’s Poetry festival scheduled for August 2020.

Many of our supporters will be as disappointed as we are but we trust this is a wise decision given the unchartered waters we find ourselves in.

We were shortly due to call for submissions and to begin planning our event but at this stage we cannot clearly envision what the situation will be like in a few months’ time. Furthermore we are unable to guarantee our loyal funders and sponsors the successful outcome they might expect.

We remain optimistic that we will in the near future reassess our way forward. We thank our sponsors for their ongoing, generous support and hope they will remain on board with us once the situation has changed and we are able to reschedule.

As a mark of our optimism we are still hoping to continue our National Competition and annual anthology for 2019.  Details to be announced on confirmation.

Unfortunately no correspondence until further notice.

In the meanwhile we are hoping that in the future Temenos in McGregor remains a home and sanctuary for poets and poetry lovers.

For this reason we are offering

  • Opportunities for small self-organising groups of poets or poetry events at Temenos. Writers and lovers of the written word are welcome to come and enjoy one another’s company and to share a new Anthology or body of work. Friends of McGregor Poetry will receive a 50% discounted rate for accommodation plus use of our facilities.
  • Discounted stays would apply to all poets on our data base who may be seeking a quiet time in our tranquil gardens so as to be inspired anew or to complete a body of work. Contact billyk@lando.co.za
  • Poets are more than welcome to continue making use of our extensive Poetry Library at Temenos and are invited to include their anthologies in this exceptional collection.
